Email Append Case Studies
SOFTWARE COMPANY
Challenge: Client wants to reach and target more of its software users via online. The company is offering customer support and project plans online at no cost to its current software users. Due to lack of online customer contact they have been unable to reduce their cost of customer retention. The company was looking for a solution that would both keep their renewal rates high while reducing costs by delivering customer support online.
The client decided to utilize our email address append service to identify its users, and to deliver additional information to them via email. They delivered a file containing the information for 189,457 of its software users that they had no online information on.
The B2B client was able to append email addresses to 33,838 of its records (a 17.86% match rate). The initial broadcast to these online subscribers was extremely well received. Over 52% of recipients that opened the email and clicked back to their site for updates on new features. Client mails consistently to this database to inform its client base of new patches, upgrades, and company news and events such as webinars.
Political Organization
Challenge: Political client wants to use online advertising
to communicate with their younger political members. As this segment of their
customer base was expanding rapidly it was critical that they
identify the most efficient communication method possible to ensure
that users are being communicated with during the moment of highest
opportunity and important communications.
We processed 6.9
million of their member file records and returned back to the client
a solid 13.5 percent match results.
Client is now able to
communicate with nearly 930,000 members via email for fast, cheap,
and efficient form of communication.
Brick & Mortar Retailer
Challenge: Client does a substantial amount of business through their physical stores but only 8 percent of sales come through their website.
Retention is their main focus through frequency of communication to their previous customers.
Their goal is to driving their current off-line customers to their website for promotions, new products, increase sales, and customer service.
Since email is a cost effective form of communication, they utilized email appending services to append email addresses to their current off-line customer base. Client sent half of their current client file to us for email append. This file only included people who were previous customers with no email address known.
In July, 2003 the client sent a file of 400,000 records for an initial test. The match results from the email append are as follows:

The initial broadcast was a "Permission Welcome Email" only. There were no offers, or additional links in this initial email. Only 0.93% of recipients requested to be removed.
The client is utilizing these new online records during the 2003 holiday season by sending special offers and promotions via email to these customers. During the holiday season, they expecting to the results to stagger to $600,000 in sales from people ordering from receiving a promotional email from their favorite store.
Large Chocolate Retailer
Challenge: Client wants to reach its customers via online methods to promote gift baskets, anniversary gift ideas, co-worker gift ideas, promotions, and increase registrations for their weekly email newsletters.
They client delivered 200,000 names to us for a initial test of our email append services.
With 48 hours, we had raw results of 18.9 percent match rates.
After our initial mailings, open-rates were above 34 percent.
On their second mailing to this customer database their open-rates increased to over 40 percent.
Customer is planning on appending another patch of their off-line database during this holiday season.
Global Oil Company
Challenge: Client wants to expand their tremendous business & consumer customer database to take advantage of the efficiencies of email to execute special promotions campaigns and promote new services, updates, and sponsored credit card invoices via email.
They were excited about the fact that our email append pricing is 100% results driven, and submitted a large file for email appending.
We were able to email append 268,854 email address which matched to their customer database. Global Oil company only pays for the addresses that are successfully appended and now has 268, 854 of their existing customers email addresses. They are now in a position to start communicating to their customers via email.
Automotive Manufacture
Challenge: Client wants to use online advertising as a primary vehicle to promote value added offers and communicate with their customers.
Before our email appending service, the client had only a very small database of email addresses for their existing customers.
In order to build upon their previous success, they needed to expand the size of their online database using our email appending services.
Our email address append services processed match results of an amazing 42.3 percent (this kind of match rate does not happen often).
The client is now using this email appended database file to communicate with current vehicle owners about upcoming models, recalls, news, parts and services. Open rates have proved to be well above 38 percent on average.
Financial Institute
Challenge: Client wants to communicate with their current customer database via email as a vehicle to promote new account offers, interest rates, invoices, statements, alerts, and drive traffic to their site to up-sell customer.
Data protection is extremely important for this client due to sensitive customer financial information.
Our consultants were hired and were onsite with the client to perform email appending using our mobile append servers.
The client input file was 1.2 million records and we were able to achieve a 16 percent match rate for the client.
Data did not leave clients facility and no data
protection laws were broken or ignored.
